The Grateful Write-A-Thon
Three days of writing. A lifetime of gratitude.
In January 2026, my life was changed.
Everything felt frightening and uncertain.
I had a business to run, a family to support while my wife was on maternity leave, and a second child due in weeks - And I now could lose my life to cancer.
Two incredible people turned this around for me - My oncologist and my surgeon. Their knowledge and skill saved my life, their compassion carried me through the hardest moments, and their faith in me gave me the one sentence that carried me through it all...
I will be fine.
When I asked how I could thank and help them, they didn't talk about themselves. They talked about the charities that make their work possible.
So on 15th-17th December 2026, I'm taking on a challenge rooted in gratitude.
I'm writing a leadership book in three days.
Live, publicly, and with purpose - to raise money for the charities they chose. This is my way of turning the hardest year of my life into something that helps others.
Three days of writing. A lifetime of gratitude.
⭐ Why These Charities Matter

Make 2nds Count /
Make 2nds Count supports people living with secondary breast cancer - a diagnosis that often receives far less awareness and funding than it should. They provide research, education, and vital patient support so no one faces this journey alone. Their work is close to the hearts of the clinicians who treated me, and now it’s close to mine too.
Leicester Hospitals Charity /
Supporting patients, their carers, and the NHS staff who look after them in Leicester, Leicestershire, Rutland and beyond, working closely with communities to enhance care and improve health outcomes across the hospitals by funding projects that go beyond what the NHS alone can provide.
From improving patient experience and supporting staff wellbeing to enabling research and innovation, the Charity’s work has a real and lasting impact - including on the teams who cared for me.

This challenge isn’t about writing fast.
It’s about writing with purpose and gratitude.
It’s about giving back to the people and organisations who helped me say, “I will be fine,” and believe it.
Every donation - big or small - will help these charities continue their life‑changing work.
Every pound will support patients, families, clinicians, and communities.
Every act of generosity will help me turn this year into something meaningful.
Thank you for supporting this challenge and the charities at the heart of it.
